About Us:
When children are adored, believed in, and invested in-they can grow to be their fullest potential. This will not only change their lives, but those of the community around them. Every child in our program is looked at individually, and we create a package of support that meets each child’s individual needs. We believe that by empowering and helping one, they will go on to empower and help another.
The children in our program begin by receiving sponsorship to attend school. As those in our program have been identified as being vulnerable and need more than just an education, we come around them with a support system that either directly cares for them, or invests in their current family unit.
Some children simply need their school fees paid, whilst others need to be removed from their family situation due to being at risk, and placed in a boarding school. Other children will benefit from life-skills – i.e. dressmaking, farming, etc. to allow them to earn a living, as mainstream education is not right for them. In some cases, it might be a start-up business grant to enable a young person with a good idea to get started.
We know our program makes a difference to the whole community, as a community without hope is a desperate place to be. In a place like Kumi, where for some, every day is a struggle to survive, due to lack of food, lack of water, and lack of money- to know first-hand that other people from around the world are coming to help is bringing hope. We can’t touch every life, but by touching one life at a time, the sense of hope grows stronger. Our dream is to equip the young people in our program, and believe they will invest that hope into their communities.
